The Wildland Fire Canada Conference series is intended to bring wildland fire managers, specialists, researchers and graduate students together to learn about and discuss emerging trends and issues in wildland fire management, ecology and science. The conference is an opportunity to build stronger relationships, between people and organizations, with an interest in wildland fire across Canada and globally.
The Wildland Fire Canada Conference has been held biennially starting in 2010, with the host organization and venue changing each time to encourage different perspectives, see different landscapes, and support local and regional travel to the conference for as many participants as possible. Previous conferences were held in:
- Waterloo, Ontario 2010
- Kananaskis, Alberta 2012
- Halifax, Nova Scotia 2014
- Kelowna, British Columbia 2016
The next Wildland Fire Conference is being held November 18-21, 2019 in downtown Ottawa, Ontario. The conference is being co-hosted by the Province of Ontario and the Canadian Forest Service.
